What is Orchard eBusiness?

Orchard eBusiness is a software development house with one mission in mind - to develop quality applications that are easy to use that add real business value when applied. This is not an easy feat, but something the founder of Orchard BPM has done in the past on numerous occassions from winning editors choice in Australian PCUser magazine, to winning a national eCommerce product of the year aware. This vision of excellence and simplicity is what drives the Orchard ebusiness experience.


Why Orchard?

So why the name "Orchard"? It doesn't really sound like its for eBusiness. During a meeting with a COO about one particular e-commerce strategy, he mentioned that we need to "first pick the low-hanging fruit" which meant that he wanted to achieve quick results by doing the tasks that were easier. Fair enough, and many of our projects work like this. When thinking of a name for this software business, I thought of this story again, but I didn't want something that would just get the low hanging fruit, I wanted to get as much fruit as I could, in a way that was automated, similar to some of the high-tech fruit picking orchards, and thus the name "Orchard" was born.

Ironically these days the software development is done from on an old strawberry farm in rural Queensland which has orange trees even though the development of this application started years ago.
